About the Practice:
The Retina Institute of Virginia (RIV) is a premier retina practice with two primary offices and three satellite locations across central Virginia, including Richmond, Fredericksburg, Tappahannock, Colonial Heights, and Williamsburg. Our fellowship-trained, board-certified ophthalmologists provide state-of-the-art care for retinal and vitreous diseases such as diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, retinal tears and detachment, retinal vascular diseases, uveitis, and trauma. RIV is committed to delivering the highest quality care with exceptional personnel, equipment, and facilities.

Position Overview:

  • Fellowship-trained Retina / Vitreous Surgeon required (Uveitis training preferred but optional)

  • Schedule: Monday–Friday with at least one full surgery day; weekend and holiday rotation shared among providers (8–9 weekends/year on-call)

  • Office Locations: Richmond & Williamsburg

  • Average Patient Volume: 50/day

  • Average Surgical Cases: 6/week

  • Support: 5 MD retina-only practice with full support staff, including techs, scribes, and testers

  • No hospital calls
