Members of the multispecialty division provide complete perioperative care for patients undergoing a wide variety of surgeries including:

• general surgery
• orthopedics

• oral/maxillofacial surgery
• oncologic surgery

The Division of Multispecialty Anesthesiology serves as a foundation for clinical experiences for both introductory and advanced anesthesia residents. We provide care for patients with the highest levels of acuity affording an excellent educational opportunity for our outstanding residents.

Whether you are seeking a tenure or non-tenure track position, we have exciting opportunities for you. Full-time physicians are encouraged to join us, and we also offer part-time opportunities to cater to diverse needs.

Requirements:

• M.D./D.O. or equivalent
• Skills in clinical care, research, and/or education
• ABA certification/eligibility
• Credentials to obtain a State of Florida physician's license

The Department of Anesthesiology

Our department comprises more than 85 clinical faculty, 11 active research faculty, 88 residents, 25 fellows, 75 CRNAs and CAAs, and a support and administrative staff of 40+ people. We are a world-renowned academic department that typically publishes at least 26 books and book chapters, more than 55 manuscripts, and is granted around 5 U.S. patents each year.

Our anesthesiology faculty are trained in a variety of clinical subspecialties including critical care medicine, pediatrics, congenital heart anesthesiology, neuroanesthesiology, obstetric anesthesiology, and pain medicine. Research interests of our faculty span clinical and basic science, cognition, simulation training, and neurodegenerative disorders.

It is part of UF Health, the Southeast’s most comprehensive academic health center, with campuses in Gainesville and Jacksonville.

City of Gainesville

Gainesville consistently ranks in the top 10 lists of desirable places to live by various magazines and ranking services. It is a medium-sized city in North Central Florida with a population of 132,249. The additional 50,000 University of Florida and 20,000 Santa Fe College students bring the total population close to 200,000 people. Housing costs and taxes are low compared to most areas of the country and there is no state income tax.

Gainesville is a semi-tropical city with mild winters and warm summers. The inland location protects Gainesville from the worst impacts of hurricanes in both the Gulf and Atlantic. With this great weather, outdoor activities can be enjoyed year-round at the many parks, lakes, and springs. If you’ve have your fill of our lakes, take a drive over to the Atlantic or Gulf coasts (only two hours east or west) to enjoy the beautiful beaches.

If you’re not an outdoors person, try Gainesville’s many museums and the Hippodrome Theatre, where you can watch live shows and music.
