Bismarck offers a variety of cultural attractions, such as theater companies, symphony, orchestra, choir and arts.   The community also offers minor league basketball and hockey teams, with the addition of a large variety of college sports.   The area is noted for its abundant outdoor activities, such as fishing, hunting, boating, golfing, horseback riding and rodeo, and a ski resort just minutes outside of Bismarck.

The public school system has a 98.5% high school graduation rate, with 45% of all juniors/seniors being in the National Honor Society with 22% of the seniors having an A average.  In addition to public schools, you will find K-12 parochial and non-denomination Christian schools.  Higher education is offered through Bismarck State College and the University of Mary, along with some classes through the University of North Dakota.  The UND School of Medicine has a Family Practice residency program in Bismarck, which allows the residents to work in several Bismarck practices.
