Atrium Health Geriatric Medicine Fellowship Opportunity

Join the Atrium Health Geriatrics Fellowship – a one-year ACGME-accredited clinical training program for board-certified/board-eligible physicians from Family/Internal Medicine who have a strong desire to build their clinical skills and knowledge in caring for older adults across the continuum of care.

The Geriatric Medicine Fellowship prides itself in preparing fellows to manage older adults in a variety of settings through training opportunities in acute care, long-term care, and ambulatory settings. Experiences include collaborative management of older adults with interdisciplinary teammates including advanced practice providers, nurses, therapists, social workers, dieticians, and other allied health professionals. Clinical rotations are offered in several specialties to advance the foundation of geriatric care and training and include hospice and palliative medicine, neurology, psychiatry, oncology, physical medicine & rehabilitation, and with elective opportunities in several additional specialties to tailor the geriatric training to the individual learner’s needs and interests.

Fellows will receive formal didactic training in weekly core lecture series sessions to aid in preparation for the certification examination in Geriatric Medicine. Additional learning opportunities include participation in conferences relevant to geriatrics and adult medicine and a quarterly interdisciplinary geriatric journal club.

Fellows will also develop their skills as educators with participation in family medicine residency training and medical student training through bedside teaching and performance of formal lectures.
