Satellite Location
The Department of Family Medicine at the University of Virginia School of Medicine is seeking a Psychologist to join its integrated behavioral health program, also known as The Family Stress Clinic.
The program currently includes two clinical psychologists and serves as a psychology practicum site, hosting three doctoral students in clinical psychology each year. The psychologists work closely with an interdisciplinary health staff. The Department of Family Medicine is an extremely collaborative department with a long history of integration of behavioral health into both its clinical services and its residency.
Position Information:
- Role: Full-time Clinical Psychologist expanding primary care behavioral health services within Family Medicine satellite practices.
- Locations: Albemarle, Nelson, and Louisa counties (including Zion’s Crossroads Family Medicine and potentially Crozet Family Medicine or Stoney Creek Family Medicine).
- Schedule:
- 8 half-day outpatient sessions per week (no call).
- Average of 4 patients per half-day session, depending on visit length and patient needs.
- Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Director of Integrated Behavioral Health to develop a robust Primary Care Behavioral Health model.
- Provide focused assessments and collaborative care for mental health symptoms, behavioral health issues, and general health promotion.
- Practice measurement-based care, including appropriate follow-up, for common and complex behavioral health conditions.
- Support primary care teams through collaborative decision-making and interdisciplinary consultation.
- Conduct specialty health psychology assessments (e.g., evaluations for medical interventions).
- Contribute behavioral health expertise to interdisciplinary quality improvement and research projects.
- Participate in departmental and health system committees.
- Teach and supervise PhD practicum students, residents, and medical students.

Qualifications:
- PhD or equivalent from an APA-accredited program
- Completed an APA-accredited internship
- Licensed or license-eligible in Virginia
*Candidates must have training in clinical psychology, and experience in integrated primary care is preferred.
