Job Description:

Partial hospitalization portion of the role:

  • Assess patients for appropriateness for level of care and their specific program
  • Provides direct clinical care in psychiatry, including brief assessments and interventions.
  • In collaboration with treatment team, patient and family, develop behaviorally-focused, outcomes-based treatment plans of care that address mental health, functional impairment, social and emotional needs, and/or medical disorders.
  • Work with program RN on addressing and collaborating with outpatient providers on comorbid medical issues in our patient population.
  • May provide care in an ambulatory clinic, inpatient or outpatient hospital setting.
  • Develops and lead staff education in psychiatric issues.

Outpatient portion of the role:

  • Provide psychiatric services for child/adolescent patients in a hospital-based clinic who are experiencing complex mental health care needs.
  • Meet with patients three times a week for about three weeks and also partake in family sessions.
  • Patient case load varies from 8 to 16, based on program size and provider FTE.
  • Services offered include diagnosis and treatment, individual therapy, discharge planning, medication management, biofeedback training and crisis services. We also offer therapy to manage stress, as well as neuropsychological assessments to address the relationship between the brain and mental functions like language, memory and perception.  
  • Closely aligned with Allina hospitals and facilitates referrals from the emergency departments and hospital discharges.
  • Collaborate with a robust team of psychologists, nurses, and social work services – to better serve the complex patient population
  • 90-minute child/adolescent intakes and 30-minute follow ups
  • Opportunity to work remotely/virtually once practice is established for the outpatient portion of position

Job Requirements

  • MD, DO, or foreign equivalency training required
  • BE/BC with ABMS or AOA required
  • Active, non-restricted medical license in MN (or ability to obtain)
  • Ability to obtain and/or maintain MN DEA certification and National Provider Identifier (NPI)
  • Ability to meet criteria/qualifications for Credentialing and hospital privileges, if applicable
