The Department of Pathology, Duke University Health System (DUHS), is seeking an outstanding candidate for a full-time faculty position as an academic gastrointestinal (GI) pathologist at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. DUHS has enjoyed significant recent expansion, and more growth is anticipated in the near future. The individual would be expected to participate in a busy clinical service which includes sign out of GI biopsies and large resection specimens. Experience or interest in bone & soft tissue or other surgical pathology subspecialty is desirable. The ability to cover frozen sections is preferred.

The ideal successful candidate would be an excellent diagnostician with a deep interest in teaching, and one who functions well in a team setting. Demonstrated clinical and/or translational research experience is desirable. Candidates must have an MD or DO degree and a valid NC medical license or qualifications to obtain one, and be Board Certified in Anatomic Pathology. Previous GI fellowship training or an equivalent is necessary.

The surgical pathology section of our department typically processes over 50,000 accessions and the clinical laboratories perform over 16 million tests annually.
