We’re recruiting for an exciting physician leadership opportunity at WellSpan York Hospital, the largest of our eight hospitals. WellSpan York Hospital (WYH) is a 596-bed acute care community teaching hospital and Level 1 Trauma Center that employs nearly 5,000 people, making WellSpan the largest employer in York County. Driven by a mission to provide exceptional care to all, WYH serves a diverse population of more than 520,000 residents from the greater York County area. The Vice President of Medical Affairs (VPMA) reports to the hospital’s president and vice president. Additionally, the VPMA:

  • Administers the operations and activities of the medical staff and supports the activities of appointed officers;
  • Reviews the quality, adequacy, and appropriateness of medical services throughout the hospital aimed to improve quality, safety, and patient and physician satisfaction, while managing costs and utilization, reducing length of stay, improving care coordination, transitions to outpatient care, and enhancing clinical productivity;
  • Co-leads the Medical Executive Committee and works with the chief of staff in respect to credentialing and privileging. Serves as the physician-leader-on-call for WYH;
  • Maintains effective relationships with employed and independent physicians and advanced practice providers; and
  • Advances strategic alignment for the operational success of the enterprise.

Qualifications:

Requirements: M.D.; D.O.; licensed to practice medicine or osteopathy in Pennsylvania; must qualify and be a member of the medical staff of WellSpan York Hospital. Physician leadership experience and demonstrated progressive growth in a complex healthcare environment.
