The VP Community Physician Network (CPN) Physician Executive serves in a leadership dyad with the VP Women’s Product line operations executive. The Physician Executive is a member of the senior physician leadership team and provides physician leadership to the Women’s product line operational teams through proactive and data driven physician engagement activities to achieve our Expectation of Quality by improving the patient experience, quality and safety outcomes, ensuring appropriateness of care, and the cost of healthcare we provide. This is a 1.0 FTE position, with a 50/50 split of clinical and administrative time.

Exceptional Skills and Qualifications

Applicants for this position should be able to collaborate with others in a team setting, have excellent communication skills, and a positive attitude toward problem-solving.

The VP Physician Executive should also have:

  • D or D.O. degree
  • Board certification in ObGyn
  • Undergraduate or graduate degree, or other advanced certification in business, health care administration or leadership is preferred
  • A license to practice medicine by the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency (IPLA)
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience, 5+ years preferred, in a medical director or other medical administrative role
  • Experience for at least 7 years as a practicing physician
  • Excellent communication skills; able to create open channels of communication, collaboration and influence. Seen as a role model for listening and respecting diverse opinions.
  • Ability to drive change by assisting physicians and administration in managing the adaptive change necessary to address market dynamics.
  • Ability to foster alignment and liaison function between administration and physicians (employed and independent).
  • Ability to assure physician voice is heard and understood in decision making.
  • Ability to engage all physicians and assure physicians understand the “why” of decisions.
  • Able to seek out, initiate, support and manage needed change even in the face of opposition and engage others in change.
  • Ability to effectively “bridge” clinical, strategic and business imperatives.
  • Ability to partner with Knowledge Management to obtain and analyze date for clinical transformation.

Women’s Product Line Highlights

The Women’s product line is one of three priority product lines at Community Health Network (CHNw). The Women’s product line is well-known as an 11-county market leader and growing in emerging markets, supported by 16 general OBGYN practices, one midwifery office, one Maternal Fetal Medicine sub-specialty office and one Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility sub-specialty office that serve women across the lifespan. Our product line supports five inpatient departments. Obstetric and Neonatal Level II care is provided at Community Hospital Anderson, Community Howard Regional Hospital and Community Hospital South. Obstetric and Neonatal Level III care is provided at Community Hospital East and Community Hospital North.

The Women’s Product Line will also be expanding to Westfield, IN in 2025!  Community Westfield will be a premier location for comprehensive women’s health.  An ambulatory women’s center with a one-stop-shop model with integrative medicine services such as massage therapy, Intimacy & Sexual Wellness Clinic, Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy, Acupuncture, Cupping, Health Coach/dietitian, Behavioral Health Consultants and Chiropractic care.  Furthermore, we will have a surgery center and hospital with Level III maternity & NICU coverage opening in by 2027!  

An Obstetric Level III facility meets the requirements of an Obstetric Level II facility plus the ability to provide care of more complex maternal medical conditions, obstetric complications, and fetal conditions.  Our interprofessional team is comprised of 38 ambulatory OB/GYNs,?4 maternal fetal medicine specialists through IUH partnership along with CHNw employed CNM/WHNPs, 9 OB hospitalists, 2 reproductive endocrinologists, 7 GYN-only physicians,?34 ambulatory APPs, 9 certified nurse-midwives (CNMs), 9 OB triage APPs and 29 CRNAs. ? 

  • Community Hospital North which houses a 60 private room LDRP and 48 room Level III NICU delivered more babies than any other individual hospital in the state during 2022 making it 9 years in a row!
  • Community Hospitals East, North, and South were nationally recognized by Newsweek as 3 out of 384 of America’s Best Maternity Hospitals 2023.
  • All 5 delivering hospitals at Community Health Network were recognized as arecipient of the 2023 INspire Hospital of Distinction for the 4th year in a row. The INspire Hospital of Distinction program is a recognition program developed by the Indiana Hospital Association (IHA) to encourage the implementation of best-practice care for Hoosier moms and babies and recognize hospitals for excellence in addressing key drivers of maternal and infant health. This recognition has been achieved by all 5 CHNw hospitals demonstrating areas of success in all 5 categories of infant safe sleep, breastfeeding, tobacco prevention and cessation, perinatal substance use, and AIM (Alliance for Innovation in Maternal Health) Patient Safety Bundles: Obstetric Hemorrhage and Maternal Hypertension.
  • All delivering hospitals were designated for meeting the criteria for BLUE DISTINCTION® Centers for Maternity Care in 2023.
  • Our CHOICE, Perinatal Substance Use Treatment Program, was chosen as an Indiana Business Journal's Healthcare Hero in the Community Achievement category in 2023.
