Sports Med Fellowship-Associate Program Director/Faculty Teaching Position—Cone Health, Greensboro NC

The Sports Medicine Fellowship Program at Moses Cone Hospital, a tertiary care, community teaching hospital that is part of Cone Health in Greensboro, N.C. seeks a Primary Care Sports Medicine physician to join our Faculty team as an Associate Program Director. Our program began in 1992 with our first fellow graduating in 1993. We were among the first programs to be fully accredited by the ACGME and have consistently received long reaccreditation periods. Our program has trained more than 70 fellows in the skills necessary to begin the practice of sports medicine in any setting.

Seeking someone that:

*Currently holds a CAQ in Sports Medicine.

*Preferably has at least 2 years clinical experience post-fellowship.

*Has experience with both Diagnostic as well as Procedural Ultrasound.

*Enjoys teaching medical students, residents, and fellows.

*Has research experience (novel research, case studies, review articles).

*Is available to assist with sports coverage when needed.

*Is proficient with fracture care/management.

*Is comfortable with osteoporosis management.

The Fellowship is a fully accredited program affiliated with Cone Health Family Medicine Residency, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and the Greensboro Area Health Education Center. We accept (3) fellows per year through the NRMP Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship Match. We have trained additional fellows when needed by area colleges or by the US military.

Graduates of our program feel well trained no matter where they end up practicing. We have graduates who are sports medicine program directors and residency faculty, team physicians for major universities, who practice in orthopedic offices, or in primary care offices, practice in solo, and rural settings.  No matter what their destination, we can help tailor the program to fit their ultimate needs.

We ensure that each fellow gets extensive experience in performance of ultrasound, injections, orthotics, casting and splinting, as well as becoming proficient in using extracorporeal shock wave therapy for MSK injury. We hope to incorporate any new innovations within the Sports Medicine field as they come to clinical use.

Our core Faculty are dedicated clinician-educators who are well supported to serve as instructors and mentors. Clinical reasoning, evidence-based medicine, and the practical use of medical informatics are emphasized. Physician wellness and fostering resiliency are highly valued.
