Director of Cancer Risk and Genetics - Physician - Thomas Jefferson University, Sidney Kimmel Medical College - Department of Medical Oncology

The Department of Oncology at Sidney Kimmel Medical College, Thomas Jefferson University, is seeking an experienced physician leader to serve as the Director of Cancer Risk and Genetics. This is a prestigious leadership opportunity within a dynamic academic and clinical environment focused on advancing precision medicine and hereditary cancer risk assessment.

The ideal candidate will bring a passion for integrating genetic risk evaluation into oncology care, a strong academic record, and demonstrated success in team-based leadership, clinical innovation, and translational research.

Job Description

  • Provide visionary leadership for the Cancer Risk and Genetics Program, aligning with the department’s mission of comprehensive, patient-centered cancer care and innovation.
  • Oversee and expand clinical services related to hereditary cancer syndromes, genetic counseling, and risk reduction strategies.
  • Collaborate closely with Jefferson’s Cancer Center, genetic counselors, surgical oncology, and other clinical specialties.
  • Lead and support faculty development, academic scholarship, and clinical research in cancer genetics and risk assessment.
  • Engage in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows.
  • Support programmatic growth, including new clinical initiatives and grant funding.

Qualifications:

  • MD or DO degree; board certified in Medical Oncology, Clinical Genetics, or related specialty.
  • Eligibility for medical licensure in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
  • Strong background in hereditary cancer risk, clinical genetics, or precision oncology.
  • Experience in academic leadership or program development strongly preferred.
  • Evidence of scholarly activity, teaching excellence, and clinical innovation.
