Women’s Health Specialty Psychologist - The University of Kansas Health System

Embedded Psychologist - OBGYN & Women’s Health Specialty Clinic

The Division of Psychology in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Kansas Medical Center is seeking applications for a Health Psychologist  – OBGYN and Women’s Health Specialty  to serve individuals in our interdisciplinary OBGYN, Women’s Health, and Gender-Affirming/Transgender Medicine clinics.  

The individual selected for this position will join the current health psychologists in a rapidly growing, 23-member Psychology Division to:

  • a) provide psychological assessment, treatment, psychoeducation and triage to outpatients and participate in interdisciplinary team-based care within the clinic, including for reproductive mental health concerns including infertility, pregnancy loss, reproductive trauma and post-partum mood disorders;
  •  
  • b) perform gender-confirmation surgery psychological evaluations and treatment, as well as referral letters required for individuals pursuing gender confirmation surgery; 
  •  
  • c) participate in the professional education of psychology interns in our APA accredited program, practicum students, and postdoctoral fellows, as well as medical fellows, residents and students and Wellness Workshops for OBGYN faculty;
  •  
  • d) provide community and provider education and presentations;
  •  
  • e) collaborate with other faculty in scholarly activities.   

 

The selected individual will join the Department of Psychiatry at the Clinical Assistant Professor level.  Applicants must have completed training in an APA or CPA accredited doctoral program (with an APA accredited clinical internship), have at least one year of relevant post-doctoral experience in health psychology working with patients with medical diagnoses, and be fully licensed or licensable in the State of Kansas by the time of the appointment; PsyPACT license and/or Missouri license to practice doctoral level psychology may also be of benefit.   It is preferred but not required that candidates will have at least 2 years of postdoctoral health psychology training and experience in psychological assessment and treatment, working with patients diagnosed with medical diagnoses, in particular those seen in OB/Gyn, Women’s Health, and Gender-Affirming/Transgender Medicine clinics.
