Kansas City Hematologist-Oncologist – Lymphoma Specialist

The University of Kansas Cancer Center (KUCC) is seeking a Hematologist/Oncologist with a focus in Lymphoma to join the Division of Hematologic Malignancies and Cellular Therapeutics (HMCT) team. We are the regional tertiary referral center and the largest Blood Cancer and Cellular Immunotherapy program in Kansas and western Missouri.

Qualified candidates must have completed an ACGME accredited Hematology/Oncology fellowship and be board certified/eligible in Hematology.

Responsibilities

  • Provide inpatient and outpatient care for lymphoma patients.  Outpatient sub-specialization to specific lymphoma subtypes is possible, particularly if it aligns with research interests.
  • Serve as local and national principal investigator on lymphoma clinical trials.  It is anticipated that the candidate will have interest in early phase drug development and actively participate in phase 1 clinical trials.
  • Publish in national peer-reviewed journals and present in national scientific meetings. 
  • Provide education and mentorship to hematology/oncology fellows, internal medicine residents and medical students.

  • The HMCT Division is comprised of 21 faculty experts dedicated to the care of patients with hematologic malignancies and immune deficiencies.  We are committed to developing basic science in hematologic malignancies, translating those discoveries into novel therapeutics, and participating in landmark clinical research leading to drug development and approval.  
  • The HMCT division recently received a $66M philanthropic gift that was  utilized to construct a state-of-the-art 84 bed inpatient care unit dedicated to patients with hematologic malignancies housed within our 1,045-bed academic medical center.
  • HMCT therapeutics division operates a large, state-of-the-art, outpatient care facility, therapeutic blood treatment/apheresis center, and inpatient center.
  • The division includes a robust, FACT accredited, Immune Effector Cell (IEC) program that performs autologous and allogenic transplants, CAR T-cell and cellular therapeutics for blood cancers, congenital hematologic disorders, and solid tumors.  We were a top 3 enrolling site for ZUMA-7 and BELINDA and perform more than 300 transplants and CAR-T procedures annually.
  • The HMCT division has a comprehensive portfolio of pharma-sponsored and investigator-initiated BMT and CAR-T and cell therapy clinical trials and is also a certified CAR-T center for Novartis, Kite and BMS.   KU Cancer Center enjoys a fully taxpayer funded early phase clinical trial center dedicated to development of novel therapeutics. 
  • KU Cancer Center is a member site of SWOG and ECOG, actively participating the in the Lymphoma committees of both.  We additionally are a member site of the lymphoma committee of the Hoosier Cancer Research Network specializing in early phase cooperative group studies.
