You will be at the forefront of delivering high-quality psychiatric care to inpatient populations, working closely with a multidisciplinary team committed to recovery, dignity, and hope.

Your Role Includes:

• Conducting thorough psychiatric evaluations and assessments

• Leading collaborative, evidence-based treatment planning

• Managing psychiatric medications with best practices

• Coordinating patient care and discharge plans

• Attending on-site court hearings as needed

• Ensuring timely, accurate medical documentation

• Serving as an on-call physician when scheduled

What We’re Looking For:

• M.D. or equivalent from an accredited medical school

• Completion of an approved psychiatry residency program

• Active Virginia medical license

• DEA license to prescribe

Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS) operates 12 facilities: eight behavioral health facilities for adults, a training center, a psychiatric facility for children and adolescents, a medical center, and a center for behavioral rehabilitation. State facilities provide highly structured, intensive services for individuals with mental illness, intellectual disability or are in need of substance use disorder services.
