Job Description

Rheumatology Section Chief Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center | Lebanon, New Hampshire Dartmouth Health Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, the academic flagship of Dartmouth Health and northern New England's only academic medical center, is seeking a board-certified Rheumatologist to serve as Section Chief of Rheumatology. This is a rare opportunity to lead an academic section at a tertiary referral center with a strong tradition of clinical excellence, research, and medical education. The ideal candidate is a skilled rheumatologist with experience in both inpatient and outpatient service and is familiar with the tripartite academic mission of clinical care, education, and research. As Section Chief, you will provide strategic and clinical leadership for a full-spectrum academic rheumatology practice, working alongside subspecialists across Dartmouth Health and in close partnership with the Dartmouth College Geisel School of Medicine.
  • Direct the clinical, academic, and administrative operations of the Rheumatology section
  • Manage a complex referral base spanning inflammatory arthritis, systemic autoimmune disease, vasculitis, and connective tissue disorders
  • Recruit, mentor, and develop faculty as the section grows
  • Contribute to resident and fellow education through Dartmouth Hitchcock's teaching programs
  • Pursue clinical research and scholarly activity, with access to Dartmouth Health's academic infrastructure
  • Collaborate across a robust multispecialty network, including orthopedics, nephrology, dermatology, and pulmonology, to manage complex systemic disease

Qualifications
  • MD or DO, board certified or board eligible in Rheumatology
  • Eligible for medical licensure in New Hampshire and Vermont
  • Prior academic appointment, leadership experience, or strong interest in program-building preferred
  • Interest in teaching, mentorship, and/or clinical research
