Pediatric Rheumatology Opportunity at Children’s Hospital of Michigan

Why Join Us

Children's Hospital of Michigan has been a cornerstone of pediatric care since 1886 — the first and largest children's hospital in the state and a nationally ranked institution recognized by U.S. News & World Report. As a proud member of the Detroit Medical Center, CHM carries an international reputation in pediatric medicine, surgery, and research, training more pediatricians than any other facility in Michigan. The Division of Allergy/Immunology and Rheumatology is growing, and this is your opportunity to join a collaborative, academically engaged team with real infrastructure behind it — including an infusion center, dedicated research support, and active multicenter clinical trials.

Position Highlights

  • Full-time, employed position with an 80/20 clinical-to-academic split; schedule can be tailored to your research and teaching interests
  • Join a team of two full-time Pediatric Rheumatologists, a full-time Peds Rheum NP, and a half-time Immunologist
  • Four clinics per week (4-hour blocks); outpatient services span CHM's Pediatric Specialty Center and three satellite locations across the Detroit metro area
  • 10 days per month of Pediatric Rheumatology inpatient consult coverage
  • Call is beeper-based, limited to Pediatric Rheumatology only — 10 days per month
  • Full panel of autoimmune conditions including JIA, lupus, dermatomyositis, vasculitis, scleroderma, periodic fever syndromes, and Behçet's disease
  • On-site infusion center for IVIG and monoclonal antibody therapy
  • Multidisciplinary vasculitis clinic in collaboration with Pediatric Nephrology
  • Cross-institutional collaboration with adult rheumatology at DMC Harper University Hospital
  • Academic affiliations with Wayne State University School of Medicine, Michigan State University, and Central Michigan University
  • Division research center located on-site at the main hospital; multicenter research participation is actively encouraged

Why Detroit

Detroit is a city in full stride — a revitalized urban core with world-class dining, a thriving arts and music scene, and major sports anchoring community pride year-round. Neighborhoods like Midtown, Corktown, and Royal Oak offer distinct personalities and genuinely affordable housing compared to most major metro markets, making it an easy place to put down roots. The broader metro area provides strong public and private school options, and proximity to the Great Lakes means outdoor recreation is never far away. For physicians who want the energy of a major city without the cost of living to match, Detroit consistently delivers.

Employment practices will not be influenced or affected by an applicant’s or employee’s race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy), national origin, age, disability, genetic information, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, veteran status or any other legally protected status. Tenet will make reasonable accommodations for qualified individuals with disabilities unless doing so would result in an undue hardship.
