Key Responsibilities:
Provide direct virtual inpatient-level care during 12-hour daytime shifts (7:00 am 7:00 pm).
Deliver after-hours emergency support (7:00 pm 7:00 am) on approximately 50% of daytime shift days (includes phone, video visits, order entry).
Collaborate closely with HAH nurses, paramedics, APPs, and referring providers to:
Screen and admit patients to the Hospital at Home program.
Conduct virtual admission tuck-in visits alongside in-home care teams.
Manage acute clinical needs using remote and in-person resources.
Participate in daily multidisciplinary rounds, documentation, and coordination of specialty consults.
Support medical education and mentorship of students, residents, and APPs.
Participate in program development, quality improvement initiatives, and team meetings.
Hybrid practice model: After initial onboarding, physicians may work from a HIPAA-compliant remote office within Massachusetts, with periodic in-person shifts at the Worcester command center for clinical, training, and team-building activities.
Share weekend and holiday coverage equitably with the team.
Optional opportunity to combine Virtual and Brick-and-Mortar Hospitalist roles if desired and aligned with departmental needs.
Typical Day Schedule (Day Shift):
7:00am 7:30am: Multidisciplinary rounds
7:30am 8:30am: Admission consultations
8:30am 1:00pm: Patient video visits, orders, documentation
2:00pm 7:00pm: New admissions, "tuck-in" video visits, consults
Overnight coverage (50% of shifts): Emergency support (calls, tele-visits)
Qualifications:
Required:
MD or DO degree
Board Certified / Board Eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine
Massachusetts medical license (or ability to obtain)
BLS and ACLS certification
Recent experience in inpatient acute care
Comfort with, or willingness to learn, telehealth technology
Strong collaboration and communication skills
Commitment to caring for medically and socially complex patients in non-traditional care environments
Preferred:
Experience working with geriatric and/or underserved populations
Prior exposure to home-based or value-based care models
Interest in innovation, system improvement, and interdisciplinary teamwork
