Forrest Health System is seeking to add a board-certified Neurologist to its Neurological Care Team. This role would establish outpatient neurology services within the Forrest Health System and aid the current rapidly expanding inpatient Neurology practice.

Neurologist Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

  • Support of inpatient and outpatient neurology consultation services within Forrest General Hospital and the Forrest Health System.
  • Participates in “on-call” day time shift schedule in a responsive and timely manner. Responds to consults as quickly as possible and within hospital bylaws.
  • Conduct thorough neurological exams and assessments and diagnose and treat a variety of neurological conditions and disorders as part of comprehensive patient care.
  • Analyze complex patient medical histories and communicate with patient’s inpatient attending physician and/or primary care physician to coordinate care.
  • Order as appropriate and interpret laboratory, imaging and other diagnostic tests.
  • Partner alongside colleagues and other members of the care team with a focus on practicing evidence-based medicine and teamwork to bring the highest quality in patient care.   • Determine a diagnosis and develop/implement a personalized care plan for each patient.
  • Provide preventative care and health education to empower patients and their caregivers for a full patient-centered approach.
  • Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals, including but not limited to other neurologists, cardiologists, radiologists, hospitalists, critical care team, palliative care team and emergency services.
  • Stay ahead of the curve with ongoing education and training in the latest neurological advancements.
  • Complete all EHR documentation and administrative tasks in a timely manner.
  • Familiarity with the EPIC EMR preferred 

Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:

  • BC/BE in Neurology
  • Completion of an ACGME-approved residency in neurology
  • Board Certified as a diplomat in the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in neurology or board eligible.
  • Valid Mississippi medical license and DEA
  • Maintain CME requirements
