Ochsner Children’s Hospital in New Orleans, Louisiana is searching for a BC/BE Fellowship-trained Pediatric Anesthesiologist, with sub-fellowship training in Pediatric Cardiac Anesthesia or experience with Pediatric Cardiac Anesthesia. The successful candidate will join a team of 3 Pediatric Cardiac Anesthesiology Faculty members. Currently our practice includes the full range of congenital cardiac pathology and palliative repairs. We are the only facility in Louisiana that offers pediatric heart transplantation and ventricular assist devices. Our transplant and VAD program is active with ages ranging from infants to teenagers. In New Orleans we service a 54-bed Level III-C NICU and a 26 bed PICU. Our group covers ~250 bypass cases and ~500 cath lab cases per year. We have an extensive Louisiana and Mississippi referral network and are actively expanding our reach with satellite clinics around the area. We also have a robust adult congenital heart population in the surrounding area, one of the many lasting legacies left by Dr. John Ochsner.
Daily practice includes the spectrum of pediatric heart disease for cardiac and non-cardiac based procedures. Most days candidate will be covering congenital cardiac cases. Goal of this position is 100% pediatric practice. Adult anesthesia cases are available if desired. We have a tiered called system, and 1st call is divided equally between team members. Post call day off if stay past a specified time. Ample vacation and CME time. Potential to work academic time into schedule. Our team works with a small team of CRNAs with abundant congenital cardiac experience. Ratio is typically 1:1. Nationally competitive compensation and benefits package.

Ochsner Children’s Hospital includes a 67-bed Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, a 14-bed PICU, a 12-bed pediatric CV-ICU, a NAEC-accredited level IV, 4 bed Pediatric EMU and a 44-bed Pediatric Acute Care unit, with a dedicated pediatric emergency room, supported by a 24-7 pediatric and neonatal transport team utilizing rotary and fixed wing aircraft, as well as ground transport. We recently began construction on a new 5-story Children’s Hospital on our main campus in New Orleans, with expected opening at the start of 2028.
Ochsner Children’s Hospital has an ACGME-accredited pediatric residency program and is also responsible for teaching pediatric residents from the Tulane-Ochsner Pediatric Residency program as well as medical students from both Tulane and the University of Queensland. Ochsner Health and Xavier University of Louisiana recently announced an agreement to establish a joint allopathic College of Medicine, the Xavier Ochsner College of Medicine, which is in the LCME accreditation process currently. Our faculty publishes hundreds of research papers annually and lead numerous multi-center studies and trials.
