Overview
Veterans Evaluation Services (VES), a Maximus company, is seeking experienced General Medicine providers to deliver essential evaluations for Veterans. This PRN, ongoing opportunity allows you to conduct short and full-day exams, primarily interview-based with some physical assessments. You will contribute to a meaningful cause while enjoying a flexible schedule, competitive hourly pay, and professional growth. No treatment or prescribing is involved, making this an ideal role for physicians with a background in family medicine, internal medicine, orthopedic surgery, or similar fields.
Required Skills
- Valid medical license in Indiana
- Proven experience in general medicine, family medicine, internal medicine, or related fields
- Ability to perform Compensation & Pension exams and health assessments
- Strong interview and physical assessment skills, including range of motion and muscle strength testing
- Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities
- Comfortable with telehealth assessments and report submission deadlines
Nice to Have Skills
- Prior experience with VA or government-sponsored assessments
- Knowledge of compensation and pension evaluation standards
- Certification in relevant medical specialties or credentials (preferred but not mandatory)
- Familiarity with medical documentation and reporting software
Preferred Education and Experience
- Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution
- Active state medical license in Indiana
- Minimum of 2 years' clinical experience in general or internal medicine
- Experience conducting evaluations or assessments for government or insurance purposes
Other Requirements
- Must reside within a 50-mile radius of assigned locations for on-site roles or own a dedicated office space for provider-led assessments
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including half-day (4 hours) or full-day (8 hours) shifts
- Ability to complete exams efficiently, including report and addendum submissions
- No travel reimbursement outside of agreed pay rates; certification costs are not covered prior to employment
