Join Our Team as a Locum Physician – General Medicine NC

Are you a dedicated general medicine physician looking to make a meaningful impact while enjoying flexible working arrangements? We are seeking experienced and committed physicians to provide essential assessment services for our nation’s Veterans. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to vital healthcare evaluations on a PRN basis, with the flexibility to choose your schedule and work in your own office environment.

In this role, you will conduct Compensation & Pension exams and Separation Health Assessments across various locations in North Carolina. Your expertise will help ensure Veterans receive the evaluations they deserve, contributing directly to their well-being. The position involves interview-based exams with some physical assessment, such as range of motion and muscle strength testing—no treatment or prescribing is necessary.

Required Skills:
  • Medical degree (MD or DO) with active state medical license
  • Background in family medicine, internal medicine, orthopedic surgery, or related general medicine field
  • Experience with compensation and pension evaluations preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to perform physical assessments and interviews efficiently
  • Professional demeanor and attention to detail

Nice to Have Skills:
  • Prior experience in military or veteran healthcare settings
  • Familiarity with VA or government-sponsored assessment processes
  • Certification in related medical fields or supplementary certifications

Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Medical degree from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of 2 years clinical practice experience
  • Prior experience with compensation and pension exams is advantageous

Other Requirements:
  • Provider must have their own office within specified radius areas
  • Willingness to work on a PRN basis, with flexible half-day or full-day shifts
  • Ability to complete exams and submit reports within designated timeframes
  • Local candidates preferred; travel is included in the pay rate where applicable
  • No bill rates or reimbursement for certifications or portal training prior to start

This role offers a competitive hourly rate of $624.00, with discounted flat rates for half-day ($800) and full-day ($1,600) shifts. A one-time bonus of $650 is available for completing initial training and performing your first exams. Benefits include comprehensive medical coverage, weekly pay via direct deposit, paid sick leave, licensure, certification, and travel reimbursements where applicable.
