We are seeking a dedicated Locum Hematology-Oncology Physician to provide exceptional inpatient and outpatient care. Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide comprehensive hematology and oncology care in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Oversee nurse practitioner activities to ensure seamless patient management.
  • Enroll eligible patients in ongoing research studies to advance cancer treatment.
  • Offer call coverage to support continuous patient care.
  • Manage a patient load averaging 12-15 patients daily.
  • Collaborate with a team of two practicing physicians to deliver high-quality oncology services.
  • Utilize EPIC EMR to document patient encounters efficiently.
  • Prioritize adult patient care in a clinical setting that combines inpatient and outpatient responsibilities.

Required Skills:
  • Medical degree (MD or DO) with valid licensure to practice in Virginia.
  • Proven experience in hematology and oncology.
  • Strong knowledge of inpatient and outpatient oncology protocols.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Competency with EPIC or similar EMR systems.
  • Commitment to patient-centered care and research participation.

Nice to Have Skills:
  • Prior research experience or enrollment in clinical trials.
  • Experience managing nurse practitioners or advanced practice providers.
  • Ability to work flexible weekly schedules, including Monday through Friday coverage.
  • Bilingual abilities are a plus but not required.

Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Board certification or eligibility in Hematology and Oncology.
  • Minimum of 2+ years of clinical experience in a similar setting.
  • Prior locum or temporary assignments highly valued.

Other Requirements:
  • Availability for coverage starting in April for weekly M-F schedule.
  • Willingness to participate in hospital call rotations.
  • Valid DEA and board certification, with current licenses and certifications in good standing.
  • No travel required unless applicable for licensure or certification renewals.
