Opelousas General Health System is seeking a dedicated Full-Time Anesthesiologist Physician to join our team. Residents/Fellows are encouraged to apply. 

Position Highlights:

• 17 WEEKS OFF PER YEAR
• General Anesthesia
• Procedures: Ortho, Spine, OB/GYN, ENT, General Surgery, Urology, Gastro, Ophthalmology 
• Daily Schedule: 6:00AM-5:00PM
• Call Details: 12 on and 9 off – Every other day is considered post call where you can leave by 10 AM.
• 8 ORs, 1 Special Procedure Room, and 2 Cysto Rooms 
• Approximately 20-40 cases/day
• 9 CRNAs
• 16 Bed ICU & 16 Bed PCU
• 2 Med Surg Floors (28 beds each)
• 13 Bed OB Unit 
• 2 Cardiac Cath Labs
• No open heart & no brain surgery
• EMR: Cerner
• Work-Life Balance
• Patient Diversity (dynamic & fulfilling patient care experience) 
• Opportunity to be involved in Academics through teaching Medical Students 
• 2 hours from New Orleans; 3 hours from Houston 
• 30 minutes to Lafayette Airport with direct flights to Dallas, Houston, Atlanta & Charlotte

Opelousas General Health System is a community non-profit health system governed by a local board of directors. OGHS is comprised of two hospital campuses and 15 plus WellSmart Health primary care and specialty clinics throughout St. Landry, Lafayette, and Acadia parishes. Our primary service area covers 3-4 parishes with over 100,000 lives. We currently employ more than 40 providers including General Surgery, Anesthesiology, Neurology, Nephrology, Family Medicine, Pulmonary Critical Care, Internal Medicine, Rheumatology, Orthopedics, and Pain Management. We have the latest in Robotic Technology including DaVinci, MAKO and Excelsius GPS.

With our location being in the heart of Cajun and Creole Heritage, we are only a 20-minute drive to Lafayette, one-hour drive to Baton Rouge, and two-hour drive to New Orleans. 

OGHS is a 181-bed full service medical center as complete and as inclusive as any referral hospital in the state.  The Main Campus, South Campus, and Sunset Campus facilities are in St. Landry Parish. OGHS is the second largest employer in Opelousas with over 1,000 employees.

We are the second largest employer in Opelousas, Louisiana with over 1100 employees. OGHS is a community non-profit rural health system governed by a local board of directors. Our health system is comprised of two hospital campuses and 15+ WellSmart Health primary care and specialty clinics throughout St. Landry, Lafayette and Acadia parishes caring for over 100,000 lives. We currently employ more than 60 providers including: Anesthesiology, Family Medicine, Family Medicine-Obstetrics, General Surgery, Internal Medicine, Neurology, Nephrology, Orthopedics, Pain Management, Psychiatry, Pulmonary Critical Care, and Rheumatology. We have the latest in robotic technology including DaVinci, MAKO and Excelsius GPS.

The hospital is also home to the largest wound care and hyperbaric unit in the region. On the academic side, we currently have 3^rd and 4^th year medical students from VCOM completing their rotations throughout our facility. In the near future, Opelousas General Health System will launch its’ own Psychiatry Residency Program. Long term plans will also include the addition of a Family Medicine Residency Program.
