Obesity Medicine - Coastal Charleston, SC

Join a team that’s Changing What’s Possible – The Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolic Diseases at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) is seeking an Obesity Medicine specialist. The Obesity Medicine specialist will participate in clinical care, research and teaching in charming Charleston, South Carolina. All applicants must be Board Certified in their primary field such as Internal Medicine or Family Medicine and BC/BE in Obesity Medicine.

We are seeking candidates with:

  • Board certification or eligibility in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine AND Obesity Medicine
  • Academic orientation, interest in teaching, and passion for outreach

About our opportunity:

  • The successful applicant will be experienced in and passionate about Obesity Medicine. This individual will work closely with and support other providers, including obesity medicine specialists, bariatric surgeons, endocrinologists, internists, gastroenterologists, psychologists, advanced practice providers, and dieticians.
  • The appointee will provide comprehensive care for the medical and surgical management of patients with obesity and will be comfortable with managing weight-related complications.
  • This individual will also have an essential role in contributing to the growth and development of comprehensive weight loss and wellness center services at MUSC.
  • Teaching duties will focus on the education of fellow, residents, and medical students as well as improving faculty and staff education in the field of Obesity Medicine.

The Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolic Medicine at MUSC has a fifty-year distinguished history of clinical, translational, and basic research as well as a reputation of excellent clinical care and education. Under the leadership of Drs Marc-Andre Cornier and Josh Neal, the Division has focused on cardiometabolic disorders such as obesity and expanding clinical services, research, and education in the greater Charleston area. A new weight management clinic was established in 2024 and has grown rapidly to reach patients in the Charleston area and beyond.
