Join Our Team as a Hematology/Oncology Physician – Make a Difference in Patient Care

Are you a dedicated Hematology/Oncology physician seeking a rewarding opportunity to provide quality care in a dynamic environment? We are looking for a compassionate and skilled specialist to join our team for a 3-month clinic coverage assignment, supporting adult patients with solid tumors and malignant hematology conditions. Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide outpatient Hematology and Oncology consultations for adult patients (over 18 years old).
  • Support a multidisciplinary team of 4 APPs, oncology RNs, infusion RNs, MAs, clinical pharmacists, and allied health professionals.
  • Manage a patient volume of 13-15 patients per day in a clinic setting.
  • Work Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with flexible days of the week.
  • Utilize Epic/Beacon EMR systems for documentation.
  • Handle cases involving solid tumors, malignant hematology, and common hematologic issues such as iron deficiency anemia.
  • No bone marrow biopsies required; bone marrow transplants are referred to tertiary centers.

Required Skills:
  • Medical degree with active Virginia medical license.
  • Board certification in Hematology/Oncology.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant clinical experience.
  • BLS certification.
  • DEA license for Virginia.

Nice to Have Skills:
  • Experience with outpatient infusion services.
  • Familiarity with Epic/Beacon EMR systems.
  • Additional certifications in palliative care or advanced oncology treatments.

Preferred Education and Experience:
  • MD or DO degree from an accredited institution.
  • Proven proficiency in managing adult oncology/hematology patients.
  • At least 2 years of post-residency clinical practice.

Other Requirements:
  • Valid Virginia state medical license and DEA registration.
  • Willingness to provide emergency privileges.
  • Ability to work in a team-based environment supportive of quality patient care.
  • No travel required, with all billable expenses reimbursed.
