Join Our Team as a Locum Physician – Hematology and Oncology in Pontiac, MI

Are you an experienced Hematology and Oncology physician looking to make a meaningful impact while enjoying flexible work arrangements? Our esteemed healthcare facility is seeking a dedicated Locum Physician to provide essential outpatient clinic coverage, supporting patient care during a recruitment gap. This is a unique opportunity to apply your expertise in a dynamic environment, collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, and contribute to ongoing patient treatment initiatives.

In this role, you will work on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, including clinic call as needed. You will manage an outpatient caseload averaging 15-20 patients per day, participate in tumor board consultations, and utilize the Cerner EMR system. The facility offers a comprehensive support team comprising Oncology RNs, Medical Assistants, a Social Worker, Dietitian, and Nurse Navigator, along with onsite infusion services, CBCs, and laboratory support.

Required Skills:
  • Board-certified or eligible in Hematology and Oncology
  • Proven experience in outpatient hematology and oncology care
  • Proficiency with the Cerner EMR system
  • Strong clinical decision-making and patient management skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  • Ability to participate in tumor board meetings

Nice to Have Skills:
  • Prior experience working in multidisciplinary oncology clinics
  • Additional certifications related to cancer care
  • Experience in tumor board participation and multidisciplinary collaboration
  • Ability to handle a busy outpatient environment efficiently

Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution
  • Current unrestricted medical license in Michigan
  • At least 2 years of outpatient Hematology/Oncology practice experience
  • Prior locum or temporary physician work is advantageous

Other Requirements:
  • Valid Michigan medical license and board certifications
  • Willingness to work on-site with no telemedicine requirements
  • Coverage period from January 19, 2026, to July 31, 2026
  • Valid driver’s license; mileage and travel reimbursements provided within a $150 cap (including taxes), with rental equipment refueled upon return
  • Malpractice insurance coverage required; rates include this benefit
  • No third-party lodging bookings; McLaren's facility is tax-exempt and does not reimburse lodging taxes
