MEDS is an independent, physician-owned Emergency Medicine group, founded in 1983, serving both rural and urban communities across the Midwest. While offering the care standards of large health systems, MEDS maintains the personalized service and autonomy of private practice.
Our physicians continue to practice clinically in emergency departments and hospitalist roles while also serving in leadership positions. MEDS providers work closely with hospital staff and administrators to expand access, raise quality standards, and deliver compassionate, patient-centered emergency care.

MEDS is pleased to announce a premier quality-of-life Emergency Medicine Physician opening at Salem Township Hospital in Southern Illinois. This opportunity is ideal for physicians seeking to maximize income potential while enjoying a low-stress, low-volume clinical environment.

Position Highlights
- Compensation: Up to $4,800 per shift
- Annual Income Potential: $400,000 – $450,000
- ED Volume: ~5,800 visits annually (low volume)
- Shift Model: 24-hour shifts
- Practice Environment: Low acuity, low stress
- Independent Contractor status with no tail obligation
- Specialty Support: IM, Family Practice, General Surgery, Radiology/Night Hawk
Candidate Requirements
- Board Certification:
- ABEM, or
- Board-certified Family Medicine or Internal Medicine physicians with demonstrated EM experience
