Internal Medicine - Gastroenterology
Join our esteemed healthcare team as an Internal Medicine - Gastroenterology specialist and play a critical role in delivering exceptional patient care within a leading medical facility. This opportunity offers a unique chance to work with a highly accomplished Endo Unit team, performing advanced procedures such as EGD, colonoscopy, ERCP/EUS, PEG/PEG-J placement, pH studies, manometry, sigmoidoscopy, capsule endoscopy, and hydrogen breath testing, among others. Engage in a challenging yet rewarding environment that emphasizes thorough patient management, procedural excellence, and collaborative teamwork.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive gastroenterological care, including endoscopic procedures in a fully equipped facility with four procedure rooms.
- Manage an average of 12 patients per day, ensuring high-quality diagnosis and treatment.
- Perform procedures such as EGD, colonoscopy, ERCP/EUS, pH studies, manometry, sigmoidoscopy, PEG placement, and provide follow-up communications with patients regarding results.
- Complete all charting independently, including reviewing pathology and communicating effectively with nursing staff.
- Adhere to scheduled shifts, covering full 24-hour blocks, with overnight call responsibilities. Weekend call coverage is also required.
Required Skills:
- Valid MI medical license.
- Extensive experience in gastroenterology procedures and patient management.
- Strong proficiency in electronic medical records systems such as Cerner, gGastro, or Athena.
- Ability to work independently without scribe support, demonstrating excellent organizational skills.
- Effective communication skills for coordinating with nursing staff and patients.
Nice to Have Skills:
- Experience with hydrogen breath testing and capsule endoscopy.
- Familiarity with advanced procedures such as ERCP/EUS.
- Prior work in a high-volume endoscopy setting.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Board-certified or board-eligible in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology.
- Minimum of 2 years experience in a similar clinical environment.
- Proven track record of procedural competence and patient care excellence.
Other Requirements:
- Availability for full coverage of scheduled dates; partial availability will not be considered.
- Immediate credentialing and billing enrollment completion required prior to start.
- No scribe support; provider responsible for all charting and patient documentation.
- Must have hospital privileges for the procedures listed.
