Job Description

Riley Hospital for Children and Indiana University School of Medicine are seeking a board certified/eligible Pediatric Hospitalist to provide broad patient care experience across a variety of care models and serving a diverse patient population throughout the state of Indiana. This position offers an opportunity for growth within a wide range of clinical settings for quality improvement, medical education, leadership, and research.  The successful candidate will join the premier Hospital Medicine program in the state of Indiana with far-reaching impact on patient care, advancement in the field of medicine and collaboration with local and national partners to advance the field of Pediatric Hospital Medicine. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Primary practice location at IU West, in Avon--a suburb of Indianapolis
  • Attend high-risk deliveries on a labor and delivery unit, rounding on normal newborns, and staffing Level II NICU that serves infants >32 weeks gestational age and >1500 grams at birth
  • Faculty appointment with the Indiana University School of Medicine 
    • Teaching on service (pediatric residents and PHM fellows)
    • Participation in departmental educational endeavors
    • Encouraged to participate in scholarly pursuits
  • Procedures include (but are not limited to): lumbar puncture, possible circumcision

Position Details:

  • 12 hour shifts, may be split between days and nights; 141 shifts per year.
  • Holidays and weekends are evenly distributed among all faculty. 
  • Some opportunities for additional moonlighting at other IU Health facilities throughout the system.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of pediatric residency
  • Completion of PHM fellowship desired, but not required.
  • BE/BC in pediatrics.
  • Physician MD/DO licensed in Indiana or eligible for medical licensure.
