About this role: 

St. Mary’s Regional Hospital in Grand Junction, CO, part of the Intermountain Health system, is seeking a visionary Medical Director/Site Lead to lead and redesign its Cardiothoracic Surgery Program for Western Colorado. 

 

This is a unique opportunity for an experienced CT surgeon to shape the future of a high-potential program. Following recent changes in clinical leadership, the CT Surgery service is being reimagined as part of a broader Cardiovascular Service Line, led by a nationally recognized vascular surgeon. 

 

Position Highlights: 

  • Leadership & Mentorship: Oversee and mentor two CT surgeons while building a collaborative, high-performing team. 

  • Program Development: Redesign and implement a comprehensive CT surgery program with full support from Intermountain Health. 

  • Diverse Case Mix: Includes CABG, Aortic surgery, valve repair/replacement, thoracic procedures, and TAVR. - No esophageal, VAD or Transplant.  

  • Integrated Service Line: Work alongside a newly verified vascular surgery program recognized by the ACS and SVS for excellence in care, facilities, and outcomes. 

  • Academic-Level Care in a Community Setting: St. Mary’s offers university-level complexity with the warmth and accessibility of a regional medical center.

  • Board-certified CT surgeon with leadership experience.

Compensation:  

Annual Base Salary: $925,000.00  
wRVU Bonus: $85.00 per wRVU over 10,500 
Call: 1:3 included in base, excess call $1700/24hr shift  
Annual CME allowance: $5000.00 

  

What you’ll bring: 

  • MD or DO degree from a fully accredited allopathic or osteopathic school of medicine  

  • Board certification or eligibility in Cardiothoracic Surgery 

  • Active, unobstructed Colorado medical license, or the ability to obtain one 

  • Full prescriptive authority and an active DEA, or the ability to obtain one 

  • Ability to successfully complete Intermountain Health’s credentialing process
