This is an exciting time to be a part of UAB, we are expanding again … the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Medicine has experienced rapid growth and will be moving into a new Emergency Department this year. Additional physicians are needed for the State’s only ACS Level 1 Trauma Center and the nation’s first accredited ACEP Level 1 facility.
Diverse clinical and academic opportunities go beyond traditional emergency care:
We take pride in INVESTING IN OUR PEOPLE with the motto of “train well, treat well”. Our educational programs offer challenging, hands-on patient care experience across three distinct emergency departments—UAB Hospital, UAB Highlands, and community facilities. Faculty have opportunities to develop expertise in joint specialties including emergency medicine-sports medicine, emergency medicine-geriatrics, and emergency medicine-toxicology. Fellowship training in these and related areas is highly valued.
UAB Medicine is the nation's third-largest public academic medical center, with more than 1,900 beds. Our recent acquisition of Ascension St. Vincent's Health System includes an additional 409 beds, and extensive outpatient facilities throughout Alabama.
