We are seeking a highly qualified Locum Physician specializing in General Medicine to join our team in Houston, TX. Position Overview:

As a Locum Physician, you will conduct interview-based exams with some physical assessments to evaluate veterans' health conditions. No prescribing or treatment is involved. The position offers the flexibility to work either half-days or full days on a PRN basis, making it ideal for professionals seeking intermittent work. You will be an integral part of Veterans Evaluation Services (VES), a Maximus company dedicated to serving veterans nationwide. The role is perfect for providers with backgrounds in family medicine, internal medicine, orthopedic surgery, or related general medicine fields, especially those experienced with compensation and pension evaluations.

Required Skills:
  • Active medical license in Texas or the ability to obtain one promptly
  • Proven experience in general medicine, family medicine, internal medicine, or related fields
  • Strong interview and physical assessment skills (range of motion, muscle strength testing)
  • Ability to perform timely exams and accurately complete reports
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Capable of working independently with minimal supervision

Nice to Have Skills:
  • Prior experience with compensation and pension examinations
  • Familiarity with veteran health assessments or government healthcare programs
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision in a remote or clinic setting
  • Efficient in administrative tasks such as report submissions and documentation

Preferred Education and Experience:
  • MD or DO degree from an accredited institution
  • Board certification or eligibility in family medicine, internal medicine, or surgery
  • At least 2 years of clinical experience in general medicine or relevant specialties
  • Prior experience conducting VA or military health assessments is advantageous but not mandatory

Other Requirements:
  • Candidates must reside within 50 miles of the specified locations
  • Travel is included in the pay rates; no additional reimbursement is provided
  • Willingness to complete required training and exams promptly
  • Ability to perform exams at various sites or in your own office if applicable

Compensation:
  • Half-day rate (up to 4 hours): $800 flat
  • Full-day rate (5 hours or more): $1,600 flat
  • One-time bonus of $650 after completing training and your first exams
  • Weekly pay via direct deposit
