Exciting Locum – Physician – General Medicine Opportunity in Houston, TX
Join our esteemed team as a Locum Physician specializing in General Medicine and make a meaningful impact by providing essential healthcare services to Veterans. This flexible, PRN role offers you the chance to work in a dynamic environment, delivering high-quality assessments and contributing to veterans’ well-being, all while maintaining your professional independence and work-life balance.
In this role, you will conduct Compensation & Pension exams and Separation Health Assessments, primarily interview-based with some physical evaluations, including range of motion and muscle strength testing. No prescribing or treatment is involved. You can choose to work either at your own office within 50 miles of the specified city or as a per diem provider at a VES facility. The position offers ongoing opportunities, with flexible scheduling options including half-day (4 hours) or full-day (8 hours) shifts, on a PRN basis.
Required Skills:
- Active Medical License in Texas or eligible for licensure
- Background in family medicine, internal medicine, orthopedic surgery, or general medicine
- Experience with Compensation & Pension evaluations or similar assessments
- Strong interview and physical assessment skills
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
Nice to Have Skills:
- Prior experience conducting VA evaluations
- Knowledge of VA-specific procedures and documentation
- Certification in relevant specialties or additional training in veteran healthcare
Preferred Education and Experience:
- MD or DO degree from an accredited institution
- Minimum of 2 years clinical practice or assessment experience
- Prior experience with veterans’ health assessments is highly desirable
Other Requirements:
- Own office within 50 miles of the specified city (for certain locations)
- Ability to complete exams and submit detailed reports promptly
- Willingness to undergo quick credentialing and onboarding process
- Local candidates preferred; travel included in rates
- Compensation provided in flat rates for half-day ($800) or full-day ($1600) shifts
- Additional one-time bonus of $650 for attending required training and performing initial exams
