Join our team as a Locum Physician - General Medicine in Houston, TX, and make a meaningful impact by providing essential healthcare services to our nation's Veterans. This flexible role offers the opportunity to work on a PRN basis, performing non-treatment compensations and separation health assessments. The position requires a compassionate, detail-oriented physician with strong interview and assessment skills. Candidates should be comfortable conducting interview-based evaluations, with some physical assessments such as range of motion and muscle strength testing, but without prescribing or treatment responsibilities.
Required Skills:
- Medical license in good standing in the United States
- Experience or background in general medicine, family medicine, internal medicine, or orthopedic surgery
- Strong interview and assessment capabilities
- Ability to perform Compensation & Pension exams and separation health assessments
- Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
Nice to Have Skills:
- Prior experience with VA or military-related evaluations
- Familiarity with compensation and pension processes
- Experience with physical assessments and minor diagnostics
Preferred Education and Experience:
- MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school
- Board certification or eligibility in family medicine, internal medicine, or related specialties
- Prior experience conducting VA exams or similar assessments is advantageous
- At least 2 years of clinical practice experience
Other Requirements:
- Own a medical office within 50 miles of the listed locations in West Virginia (Gassaway or Nutter Fort)
- Willingness to work ½ days (4 hours) or full days (8 hours)
- Capable of completing exams, reports, addendums, and administrative follow-up independently
- No travel or certification reimbursements are provided outside of approved rates
- Local candidates only; travel included in rates
