Hospitalist Job Summary

The role of the Hospitalist is to provide high quality, cost effective, and evidence based medical care to patients. The Hospitalist is expected to provide clinical care for patients admitted at our hospital, provide support to our surgical and specialty services through consultative general internal medicine practice. The Hospitalist is also responsible for coordinating care for patients at discharge and facilitating hand-off.

Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for the assessment, evaluation and clinical management of patients in the acute This is inclusive of performing histories and physicals, as well as, conducting physical examinations.
  • Diagnosis and active management of patient conditions, including evaluation and treatment, inclusive of daily patient
  • Attend multi-disciplinary rounds at site
  • Orders, conducts, and interprets diagnostic studies and laboratory tests
  • Prescribes or recommends pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic therapies, including controlled medications
  • Consults appropriate physician(s) for patient care needs
  • Refers patients to appropriate sources of care as required
  • Assures the efficient utilization of resources while supporting clinical pathway implementation and compliance
  • Assures appropriate and timely referrals to a tertiary care facility as indicated by the patient care needs in consultation with the primary care physician or attending physician

Hospitalists are under shift work with a flat rate $1900 per day shift and $2100 for night shift. Optional opportunity to earn $250 more per shift if they work over 15 shifts per month.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Medical doctor with 3 to 5 years of directly related experience which may include residency in a directly related medical specialty

REQUIRED LICENSE/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION:

  • Federal DEA Certification
  • Active Medical License in the state of Kansas
  • Board certified or board eligible in Radiology

PREFERRED LICENSE/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION:

  • BLS certified
