Chief Purpose of this Position: The cardiology hospitalist program provides for inpatient in-house coverage on the cardiology units at night 12 hours per day 7 days per week. The hospitalist service is a 2-person team of internists who support the cardiology inpatient teams in the care of patients with multiple medical problems and supports the expansion of CV services. This position is also responsible for coverage of chest pain level III patients in the emergency department.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Clinical: Anticipated clinical effort is 100%. The workload and time commitments are commensurate with the medical hospitalists - nocturnists; duty hours will be approximately 14 to 15 shifts per 4-week period of time. Faculty will directly manage patients on the inpatient and observational Cardiology services 12 hours overnight in a collaborative manner with the Cardiology faculty and Advanced Practice Providers (APPs). Will provide Emergency Department consultations regarding Cardiology Admissions and work collaboratively with Cardiology Attendings, Fellows, Residents and APPs to assure a unified Cardiology plan is developed for each patient.
Teaching: To support teaching directly via interactions with Fellows, Housestaff and non-physician professionals.
Research: To support clinical research protocols in recruitment and adjunctive clinical management.
