Mercyhealth System is currently seeking a Board-Certified/Board-Eligible Ophthalmologist to join our collaborative and growing eye care team serving McHenry and Algonquin, Illinois.

This is an outstanding opportunity to build a thriving ophthalmology practice within a well-supported, multispecialty health system equipped with advanced diagnostic and surgical technology.

Opportunity Overview:

Salary Range: $425,000 – $500,000

• Full-Time Position
• Flexible scheduling
• Shared office call (weekly rotation with another Ophthalmologist)
• EPIC EMR systemwide
• Strong built-in referral network from Mercyhealth primary care and specialty providers
• Hospital-based surgical access
• Advanced in-office laser and minor procedure capabilities
• 501(c)(3) non-profit organization (PSLF eligible)

Departmental Scope:

Comprehensive ophthalmology practice including:

• Cataract surgery
• Goniotomy procedures
• Premium lens implants
• Laser procedures
• Minor in-office surgical procedures

Procedures & Capabilities:

• Laser
• YAG Capsulotomy
• Laser Peripheral Iridotomy (LPI)
• Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty (SLT)
• Chalazion removal
• Lid lesion excision
• Steroid injections
• Foreign body removal
• Punctal plug insertion

Required Qualifications:

• MD or DO degree
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Ophthalmology
• Completion of accredited Ophthalmology residency
• Eligible for Illinois medical licensure
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Commitment to high-quality, patient-centered care

Compensation & Benefits:

• Salary Range: $425,000 – $500,000
