Travel Dental Hygienist – Flexible Schedule + Mission-Driven Care

The Indian Health Service (IHS) is seeking a Dental Hygienist to join their team in Fort Yates, North Dakota, with occasional coverage in McLaughlin, South Dakota. Assignment Overview

• Start: As soon as onboarding is complete
  (Typically 2–3 weeks after background forms are submitted)
• Duration: Minimum 3-month commitment required
• Reason for Need: Staff shortage

Schedule

• Fort Yates, ND:
  Monday – Thursday | 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM
• If needed – McLaughlin, SD:
  Monday – Friday | 7:45 AM – 4:15 PM
• Call: None

Practice Details

• Patient Volume: 5–6 patients per day (average)
• Patient Population: All ages (majority adults)

Scope of Work

• Standard dental hygiene services
• SRPs performed as needed per patient treatment plans
• Local anesthesia not required, but may be administered if licensed

• Collaborative team including:
• Dentists
• Dental Assistants
• Hygienists
• Strong support structure in a community-focused setting

Requirements

• Active Dental Hygienist License (no restrictions)
• Any U.S. state license accepted
• BLS certification required
• Must maintain all continuing education requirements

• EMR: RPMS (Dentrix)
• Onboarding Timeframe: ~3–4 weeks after background forms submission
