Medical Director – Sanitas Medical Center (Tampa Region)

Sanitas Medical Center is seeking an experienced Medical Director to lead clinical operations and ensure high?quality, patient?centered care across our Tampa region. This role combines strategic leadership with hands?on clinical practice, offering the opportunity to shape care delivery in a growing, innovative primary care organization.

Role Overview

The Medical Director oversees all medical services at the center level, ensuring clinical excellence, operational efficiency, and an exceptional patient experience. This leader supports and guides providers, drives quality initiatives, and collaborates closely with administrative and clinical teams to maintain a high?performing, value?based care environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide clinical leadership for quality improvement, utilization management, and care delivery standards.
• Oversee provider performance, including coaching, evaluations, and peer review.
• Support development and implementation of clinical policies, protocols, and best practices.
• Ensure accurate risk coding, HEDIS metric completion, and documentation quality.
• Participate in provider recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing education.
• Lead committees related to medical records, infection control, and adverse events.
• Address patient concerns, clinical issues, and regulatory compliance (OSHA, ACHA, infection control).
• Deliver direct patient care within the clinic’s primary care scope.
• Collaborate on organizational initiatives and future program development.

Qualifications

• MD or DO with an unrestricted Florida medical license.
• Board certification in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine.
• Minimum 2 years of primary care experience and 1 year in a Medical Director or clinical leadership role.
• Experience working with multicultural patient populations and value?based care models.
• English proficiency required; Spanish preferred.

Additional Details

• Supervises clinical staff and oversees provider performance.
• No current budget or financial management responsibilities.
• Occasional travel within the region as needed.
