Gastroenterologist (Locums)

Specialty:  Board Certified/Eligible Gastroenterologist

Client:  VAMC

Location:  San Antonio, TX

Schedule/Shifts Times: Clinic hours Monday – Friday 730am – 4:30pm

Call Requirements:  Will share in call rotation, 1:4 avg
% inpatient / % outpatient:  inpatient rounding and outpatient consults
Patient Volume:  Varies on types of procedures and consults per day
Patient Ages:  Adults, Geriatrics

Types of Cases: GI disorders, Hepatobiliary conditions, Inpatient consults and outpatient management

Support Staff: Clinical Physician staff, nurses, administrative staff (3 perm providers currently at the VA)
Procedures Required:

Including but not limited to the following:  

• Colonoscopy (diagnostic, biopsy, polypectomy, bleeding control, etc.)
• Endoscopic procedures and inpatient GI consult procedures
• EGD diagnostic, EGD with biopsies, EGD with banding (EVL), EGD with removal of foreign body, EGD with PEG placement, EGD with treatment of bleeding sources, EGD with dilation, flexible sigmoidoscopies, colonoscopy diagnostic, colonoscopy with treatment of bleeding sources, colonoscopy with polypectomy, colonoscopy with colonic decompression.

Type of Charting:  EMR-CPRS
Requirements:  BC/BE Gastro, BLS, ACLS, DEA, Any State license (ERCP and/or EUS not required)

Pay rate: $375-$400/hour

Travel and lodging provided (or stipend paid in lieu)

Malpractice insurance provided (standard $1mm/$3mm with tail coverage).
