Overview

Case Management (CM) Physician

Central Maine Medical Center – Lewiston & Rumford Maine. 

 

Position Overview:

Central Maine Medical Center is seeking a dedicated Case Management (CM) Physician to join our collaborative inpatient team. This role focuses on optimizing patient care, ensuring appropriate utilization of hospital resources, and supporting efficient patient throughput in a dynamic acute care setting.

 

Schedule & Workload

  • 156-hour monthly requirement
  • 15–16 shifts per month
  • Most shifts are 10-hour days (7:00 AM – 5:00 PM)
  • Occasional 12-hour shifts (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)

Responsibilities

  • Round on assigned inpatient service with a typical census of 15–17 patients
  • Manage up to a maximum census of 22 patients
  • Perform new admissions from 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM
  • Average 12 patient encounters per day
  • Collaborate closely with hospitalists, nursing, and care coordination teams
  • Support medical necessity reviews and appropriate level-of-care determinations
  • Assist with discharge planning and reducing length of stay

 

Qualifications

  • Board Certified/Board Eligible in Internal Medicine or related field
  • Experience in hospital medicine, utilization management, or case management preferred
  • Strong clinical judgment and communication skills

Bridgton Region: Bridgton is a town in Cumberland County, Maine; a resort area in Maine’s Lake Region and home to Bridgton Academy, a private preparatory school. The town is nestled among many of the state’s most scenic lakes and offers a variety of year-round outdoor recreation activities, as well as easy access to some of the area’s most significant historical and cultural sites, as well as the Atlantic coast beaches. Ski enthusiasts, in particular, will love this area for its ski slopes –these unique ski slopes, created by the townspeople in the 1930’s, spell the word “LOVE”.

Rumford Region: A beautiful, rural area, the town is located in west-central Maine’s Oxford County and is surrounded by forests, mountains, rivers, and lakes. This area boasts many recreational opportunities for boating, swimming and fishing; and it’s also home to the largest waterfall east of Niagara. The business district of the town is located on “The Island” located between the Androscoggin River and the canals. The Island features restaurants and retail stores along with the local government offices, Post Office and banking institutions.
