Assistant/Associate Program Director – Community Psychiatry

1.5 Hours from the South Carolina Coast and 2 Hours from Charlotte and Charleston

Seeking a dynamic APD to launch and lead a new Community Psychiatry Residency Program at the state-of-the-art behavioral health facility. Be part of a nationally recognized academic health system and play a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of psychiatrists while expanding access to behavioral health care across South Carolina.

Leadership Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Program Director to provide administrative and clinical leadership for the residency program
  • Support ACGME accreditation compliance and adherence to GME policies
  • Assist with resident supervision, evaluation, and educational programming, including oversight of goals, procedures, and work hours
  • Contribute to program development, growth, and continuous quality improvement initiatives
  • Participate in didactics, journal clubs, and grand rounds
  • Engage in faculty development, academic societies, and scholarly activities
  • Play an active role in resident teaching, mentorship, and program operations

Clinical & Teaching Role

  • Provide direct patient care at a single, modern facility
  • Supervise and teach residents in both clinical and didactic settings
  • Participate in research and academic initiatives
  • Flexible mix of 20–60% administrative / 40–80% clinical (varies during program development and launch)

Qualifications

  • Board eligible/certified in Psychiatry
  • Passion for medical education, program building, and community psychiatry
