Required Skills
- Proven experience in adult cardiac surgery, including CABG (arterial and venous revascularization), heart valve repair/replacement, and general thoracic procedures (e.g., thoracostomy, tracheostomy, VATS lung biopsy)
- Strong ICU management skills for high-risk cases and familiarity with Impella procedures
- Proficiency with EPIC EMR documentation system
- Excellent teamwork and communication capabilities to collaborate with ancillary staff and anesthesia teams
- Ability to perform complex surgical cases independently and efficiently during 24-hour shifts
Nice to Have Skills
- Thoracic surgery experience (preferred but not mandatory)
- Prior experience in hybrid OR or cath lab procedures supporting structural heart interventions
- Advanced skills in minimally invasive thoracic procedures
Preferred Education and Experience
- Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution
- Board certification in Cardiothoracic Surgery or similar specialty
- A minimum of 3-5 years of post-residency surgical experience in a hospital setting
Other Requirements
- Active medical license or ability to obtain licensure in Kentucky
- Credentialing estimated to take approximately 90 days
- Willingness to work a 24-hour shift schedule (7 a.m. to 7 a.m.) with on-call responsibilities
- Must adhere to all applicable state, federal, and local medical practice laws and regulations
This position offers a competitive hourly pay rate of $19,500.00, along with comprehensive benefits including weekly pay via direct deposit, paid sick leave, licensure and travel reimbursements, and a robust referral bonus program. Orientation pay is $450/hour, with on-call rates at $5,500 per 24-hour shift plus two hours of free time. Travel expenses such as lodging (~$150/night) and other authorized reimbursements are covered to support your stay.
