Surgical Retina Specialist – Kalamazoo, MI

$600K–$700K + Equity Day 1 | Multi-Site Retina Opportunity

Specialty Eye Institute (SEI), a leading partner of Midwest Vision Partners, is seeking a Board Eligible/Board Certified Surgical Retina Specialist to join its established and growing presence in Kalamazoo, Michigan. This is a 100% retina opportunity with strong patient demand across a multi-location footprint.


Position Highlights

  • 100% Surgical Retina practice
  • Coverage across Kalamazoo, Battle Creek, and Jackson locations
  • Immediate volume – backfill for departing physician
  • ~55 patients per day + 4–6 surgical cases per week
  • Weekly schedule:
    • Monday – Surgery
    • Tuesday–Friday – Clinic
  • Outpatient-only with no hospital call
  • Light call: 5–6 weeks/year (established patients only)

Compensation & Benefits

  • $600,000 (new grads) – $700,000 (experienced) guaranteed Year 1
  • Transition to 40% net collections model in Year 2
  • $50,000–$150,000 sign-on bonus
  • Equity Day 1 (ownership opportunity from the start)
  • $4,000 CME + 5 days
  • 20 days PTO

Candidate Requirements

  • Board Eligible/Board Certified – American Board of Ophthalmology
  • Fellowship training in Surgical Retina / Vitreoretinal Surgery
  • 2027 fellows encouraged to apply
