Clinical Associate Staff Congenital Cardiac Surgeon Heart, Vascular & Thoracic Institute

The Cleveland Clinic's renowned Heart, Vascular & Thoracic Institute is pleased to offer a clinical associate staff surgeon role in pediatric and adult congenital cardiac surgery at a high-volume congenital cardiac surgery program. This program offers an exceptional opportunity for qualified candidates to participate daily in the full spectrum of congenital cardiac surgical care from infancy through adulthood and work alongside a large team of experienced pediatric and adult congenital cardiac surgeons.

Clinical Responsibilities:

  • Daily operating with multiple colleague congenital cardiac surgeons
  • Participation in weekly congenital cardiac surgical patient conferences and congenital cardiac surgery research meetings
  • Daily pediatric cardiac intensive care unit rounds and bedside management
  • Active participation in candidate evaluation and selection for pediatric and adult congenital transplantation
  • Pediatric cardiac ECMO coverage
  • Perioperative care of transplant and mechanical circulatory support patients
  • Teaching as part of the CCF ACGME-accredited integrated thoracic surgery residency and congenital cardiac surgery fellowship training programs

Eligibility Requirements:

Completion of one of the following:

  • Integrated Thoracic Surgery Residency
  • 4+3 Cardiothoracic Surgery Residency
  • Traditional Cardiothoracic Surgery Fellowship (2 or 3 years)
  • Or graduation from a Canadian-accredited Cardiac Surgery Residency

Plus: some past clinical experience in pediatric and adult congenital cardiac surgery

Must qualify for a full Ohio medical license

The salary range displayed in this job posting reflects the anticipated salary range for new physicians hired into full-time (100% FTE) positions. This range is generally aligned with or below the 50th percentile of nationally recognized compensation benchmarks by specialty. A successful candidate’s actual compensation will be determined in accordance with fair market value, considering factors such as professional experience, clinical expertise, board certification, work history, and FTE. This stated range excludes the value of Cleveland Clinic’s comprehensive benefits package, which includes healthcare, dental, vision, retirement, and other offerings.
