Mass General Brigham is seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible Orthopedic Surgeon to join a cohesive, high-performing team in Northampton, Massachusetts. We’re especially interested in Sports Medicine fellowship-trained physicians (or surgeons with 5+ years of dedicated sports medicine experience). If you’re looking for the stability, scale, and resources of a leading health system—paired with a true community feel—this role delivers.

At Cooley Dickinson Hospital, we’ve cared for Western Massachusetts for more than 140 years—known for a collaborative culture, patient-first care, and strong relationships across the region.

What You’ll Do (Sports Medicine focus)

  • Step into a well-established orthopedic practice delivering sports medicine and comprehensive musculoskeletal care.
  • Work side-by-side with a tight-knit group of 5 orthopedic surgeons, 1 physiatrist, and 5 APPs in a newly expanded, state-of-the-art facility.
  • Share in a general ortho call schedule (currently 1:5)—a true team approach to coverage.
  • Deliver high-quality care across surgical and non-surgical pathways, with a strong emphasis on outcomes and patient experience.
  • Engage in mentoring and ongoing professional development within the Mass General Brigham network.
  • Practice across multiple sites, including our West Hatfield office with onsite imaging, therapy, and a wellness center, plus outpatient access in Amherst near UMass.

Why Northampton?

Northampton sits in the heart of the Pioneer Valley—an energized, outdoor-forward region with a vibrant arts and food scene, excellent schools, and easy access to bigger cities without the daily grind.

  • Live where others vacation: four-season recreation, mountain biking, hiking, skiing, and rivers nearby.
  • Culture and community: music, theater, galleries, and a walkable downtown.
  • University energy: near Amherst and the Five Colleges—great for families and lifelong learners.
  • Convenient travel: within reach of Boston, Hartford, and NYC for weekend access.

Why Choose Mass General Brigham?

This is the best of both worlds: a community-based orthopedic practice with the stability, infrastructure, and clinical resources of Mass General Brigham behind you.

  • Competitive compensation with a transparent, rewarding plan.
  • Robust benefits including health, retirement, and malpractice coverage.
  • Flexible scheduling designed to support longevity and work-life integration.
  • PSLF eligible (501(c)(3) not-for-profit).
