Required Skills:
  • Active New Mexico medical license and NM DEA certification
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible (within 3-5 years of residency)
  • Proven experience in orthopedic surgical procedures
  • Ability to handle light patient volume with professionalism
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage 24-hour beeper call shifts (on-call basis, not required to be onsite)
  • Flexibility with shift hours, typically 7 am to 7 am

Nice to Have Skills:
  • Prior experience with hospital privileging and payor credentialing processes
  • Familiarity with PCF (Patient Compensation Fund) enrollment procedures in New Mexico
  • Ability to manage case logs and documentation efficiently
  • Experience working in diverse healthcare settings

Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Medical degree from an accredited institution
  • Completion of orthopedic surgery residency
  • At least 2 years of post-residency orthopedic surgical experience preferred

Other Requirements:
  • Willingness to participate in hospital privileging and credentialing processes (approx. 90 days)
  • Ability to provide case logs from the past 24 months
  • Coverage required starting December 1, 2026, with ongoing needs approximately 2 weeks per month, potential for sporadic additional coverage
  • Enroll in PCF for the state of NM (coverage provided by the agency when applicable)
  • Willingness to participate in on-call responsibilities with flexible scheduling
