PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center is seeking a Board-Certified Thoracic Surgeon to join our rapidly growing thoracic surgery service. This staff surgeon role focuses on delivering high-quality, evidence based, patient-centered care with an emphasis on robotic thoracic surgery. The position is clinically focused on multidisciplinary care and quality initiatives within a collaborative regional network.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Care

  • Provide comprehensive thoracic surgical care including lung, pleural, mediastinal, and esophageal disease (as applicable).
  • Participate in outpatient clinics, inpatient care, and shared call coverage.
  • Ensure high standards of perioperative care and patient safety.
  • Multidisciplinary Collaboration
  • Collaborate with pulmonology, medical oncology, and radiation oncology teams within the region.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary tumor boards and coordinated care planning.
  • Support timely and efficient patient pathways for diagnosis and treatment.
  • Quality & Program Participation
  • Participate in quality initiatives including STS database reporting and outcomes improvement.
  • Support comprehensive ERAS protocols and evidence-based perioperative care pathways.
  • Engage in continuous quality improvement and patient safety activities.
  • Education (Optional Participation)
  • Participate in teaching activities for residents, students, and clinical staff as applicable.
  • Support OR team education and robotic surgery training initiatives.
  • Required Qualifications
  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited thoracic surgery fellowship.
  • Board Certified by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience with robotic thoracic surgery.
  • Eligible for Washington State medical licensure.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with esophageal surgery is highly preferred.
  • Experience developing multidisciplinary care models.
  • Interest in quality improvement

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Starting salary of $654,784 based on a 1.0 FTE with productivity incentives.
