Opportunity Details

The Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases, Allergy, and Immunology at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine is seeking a full-time faculty member specializing in pediatric allergy/immunology.  Candidates will be at the assistant professor level of the clinical educator track.

The Department of Pediatrics has an active pediatric allergy/immunology program treating a range of allergenic and immune system disorders and provides services including: 

  • allergy skin testing
  • allergy shots (immunotherapy)
  • asthma management and collaboration with pediatric pulmonary specialists for asthmatic patients
  • eczema management
  • food allergy evaluation and management
  • oral food challenges
  • Penicillin skin testing
  • evaluation and diagnosis of primary immunodeficiencies including CVID, X-linked agammaglobulinemia, chronic granulomatous disease, severe combined immunodeficiency, and DiGeorge syndrome
  • Immune globulin replacement therapy (IVIG and SCIG)

In addition, our Pediatric Allergy/Immunology program is the only?Jeffrey Modell Diagnostic Center for Primary Immunodeficiency?in the state of Florida, providing state-of-the-art diagnostic, research, and therapeutic modalities for children and adolescents with primary immune deficiency including: 

  • Infusion services for?IGIV
  • Bone marrow transplantation services
  • Investigational therapies
  • Genetic testing

In addition to delivering excellent patient care, the faculty member will also be responsible for educating fellows, residents, and medical students.

The physician candidate will have a strong interest in clinical and/or translational research as the position requires development and participation in original research for which extramural funding should be sought.  The allergy/immunology program is currently involved in research related to stem cell transplantation and works closely with UM’s growing Bone Marrow Transplant program.
