Division of Cardiology – Department of Internal Medicine

The Department of Medicine, Division of Cardiology at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible clinical cardiac electrophysiologist (EP) to join our growing cardiovascular program at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor, depending on qualifications and experience. This faculty position offers an exciting opportunity to join a collaborative academic environment dedicated to excellence in patient care, clinical innovation, education, and research. The growing Division of Cardiology has 15 faculty, 12 general cardiology fellows, three interventional fellows, two more electrophysiology fellows and is supported by advanced practice providers. 

The recruit will join a group of three electrophysiologists with a thriving practice in the only academic medical center in the state of Arkansas. The EP section performs state of the art procedures including pulse field ablation for atrial fibrillation, physiological pacing including His Bundle and left bundle branch pacing, VT ablation and laser device lead extraction. The EP fellowship program recruits one fellow a year and teaching is an important expectation of the position.

Position Highlights

  • Comprehensive clinical practice in cardiac electrophysiology
  • Participation in inpatient and outpatient electrophysiology services
  • Perform electrophysiology procedures, including:
    • Catheter ablation including atrial fibrillation and ventricular tachycardia
    • Cardiac rhythm device implantation and management
    • Laser device lead extraction
  • Teaching and mentorship of medical students, residents, and fellows
  • Participation in multidisciplinary cardiovascular care teams
  • Academic appointment commensurate with experience and scholarly accomplishments

Qualifications

  • MD, DO, or equivalent medical degree
  • Completion of:
    • ACGME-accredited Internal Medicine residency
    • Cardiovascular Disease fellowship
    • Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology fellowship
  • Board certified/eligible in Cardiovascular Disease and Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology
  • Eligible for medical licensure in the State of Arkansas
  • Demonstrated commitment to academic medicine, teaching, clinical excellence, and/or research

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in complex ablation procedures
  • Interest in clinical research, outcomes research, or translational science
  • Record of scholarly activity and publications appropriate to academic rank

Academic Rank

Faculty rank (Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor) will be determined based on qualifications, experience, academic accomplishments, and institutional criteria.
